Michael Dale
Michael Dale
Hi everyone
An update on everyone's friend Michael Dale.
After being taken to Dartford hospital he was diagnosed with 2nd degree burns to both shines and a fractured left knee.
On Saturday night and Sunday he was in great spirits and didn't seem to be in to much pain.
His son William which many if us know is now with him.
They moved him yesterday 20th to his local burns unit and awaiting the specialist thoughts and hopefully if he does not need a small skin graft he could be at Cadwell Park pitting for his best mate Dave Parkinson.
When I spoke to him yesterday he sounded full of beans but that may just be the drugs he's on and thanks everyone for there help !
Somehow you all got his car loaded into his truck and it is now in the workshop getting stripped by many volunteers who have offered to help!
Hopefully Our Paddock saviour Simon Davey can rebuild the chassis and it will be the pretty car we all love to see in the paddock in no time (every faith in you Simon).
I Will keep you all informed of any news.
Wishing Michael a speedy recovery from all at AVIT!

Re: Michael Dale
Sorry to hear of this terrible incident involving Michael, glad he's in good spirit though and hope he makes a speedy, strong recovery back to full health and look forward to seeing him in the pitlane soon
Maybe you can pass on our best wishes from me and Luke when you talk to him?
Cheer's,
Tony.

Re: Michael Dale
Pleased to hear my fellow RF82 owner is recovering... best wishes from all at 'FatBlokeRacing'.
Turning to the car, that was a huge hit to bend an 82 that way. I will send Simon some details of the modifications we incorporated in the last two RF82 chassis we had rebuilt by Peter and Lawrence Denne... if you are rebuilding the chassis then these are things to do at the same time that we have 'evolved' over many years and found make 'living with' an RF82 easier.

Any update on Michael's condition? Hope he's doing well

Re: Michael Dale
All is looking well!
Not going to need the skin grafts but won't be out of hospital for another week or so .
He was hoping to come to cadwell to pit for Dave but I doubt he will make it but hopefully he will as we will miss his funny banter in the AVIT Tent that's for sure.
His car is stripped ready for Simon to look at the chassis for him so he and his car are on the mend.
He has decided to use a van and trailer next year so if anyone wants to purchase his truck it's well maintained and had tax and test !

Re: Michael Dale
Dear Michael,
I wrote a separate full message to Simon & the Club on the 21st. Having never met & being unable to speak to you directly since our incident at Brands, I had also written to send to you personally. No assistance was received in that hence this belated précis of that letter as my reluctant 1st post on any public forum.
Obviously I offer my sincere wishes that you (& your car) recover fully.
I have not ignored you, a fellow racer in this. I have been looking to make contact with you from the moment I came off the track when I thought you were only stuck in the gravel. By the time I was back in the paddock with the COC business over, I had progressively learned of the unusual & shocking result leaving the track had for you - also a sense of ill feeling toward me. I know few in Mono so stayed away from your patch in caution not disregard.
The following morning, I received a very strong message indeed that I had pariah status. I chose not to do 2nd race & will not race a Jedi in Monoposto club again.
I have been deeply upset at this odd outcome causing you hurt & your nice car so incredibly damaged. And again today, seeing you are still in hospital.
I have seen & received dozens of our type of incident in 20 years of FF1600 without anything like that.
I absolutely assure you that I did not drive at full pace regardless. Neither did I treat the situation as competing rather than lapping - or anything like in FF1600. Unfortunately I have no logger data to prove it (It doesn’t even give lap times).
My very best wishes to you & those close to you affected by this incident.
I would be very pleased to talk to you directly & hope you see my letter to the club.
Dave

Re: Michael Dale
Just spoke to our Michael
He's getting a little bored in hospital but family visiting lots so he's ok.
Specialist still unsure whether he will need skin grafts but d day is Friday where they decide to do it or not!
Unfortunately he has picked up Mrsa in one of the hospitals but only a trace, plus side he gets his own room.
His knee is giving a little more problem than he had before but not too bad.
He sadly won't make Cadwell so will Be quiet without him.
I'm planning on taking a day off next week to pop over and see him so hope to get a better picture !
See most of you all in a few days

Re: Michael Dale
I visited Michael in hospital on Wednesday. He's in Wythenshaw Hospital in Manchester at the Burns Center
He's just had skin grafts to his leg and they are "taking" well at the moment - everyone please have a "virtual" scratch for Michael, because he's not allowed to...
He's remarkably cheerful and sends his thanks for all the best wishes, cards and the donation that he's got from everyone. He'll be in for a few days more until they are sure the grafts are OK. He's also got a fractured knee, which doesn't seem to be too troubling at the moment, so they will be looking at that once the grafts are sorted.
Please contact me if you want more info (I'm at Anglesey with the F3 Cup this weekend). I will post more updates as we go.
