Proprietary parts and home-built chassis

Post by bozla »

Hi, I hope I've put this thread in the right place!

I have a question about propriety parts:

"Any proprietary parts must be for a car designated by the manufacturer as the model for the 2007 season or earlier or earlier or from the approved chassis list.." (Mono 1000)

So, if I want to use a steering rack I have to use a part from a car from before 2007. OK, I get that. But what if, I say, ask Titan Motorsport to manufacture a rack to my spec? Is this acceptable? What if I manufacture it myself? Would this rule include wings etc.? Or do I have to go to a manufacturer and build a car out of 'spares?'

Cheers,

You are correct in your thinking.

Off-the-shelf parts must be from a pre 2008 car. Self built or purpose made parts for your car (e.g. custom steering rack) are perfectly acceptable.

What are you building?

Nothing yet! And nothing until next year, but hopefully a bike engined based formula car.
