For out of date seatbelts a possible idea may be to try owners frequenters of SADO MACISIM dens ? [ i think thats the name ] try eurotrash. or contact your local MP. they like on occasion to be trussed up. why not team up with motorcycle club road race teams who as its christmas. may throw in some old scorched leathers. or go down the livery stables borrow a slinky jodphur wearing bitch with a whip and who knows...you may have away of funding a new hans device..Nice food for thaught. kind regards happy christmas and safe 2009. to all.....ps if you frequent the woods or laybys at night one may just be able to borrow big boy turpins mask as an alternative to a visor

They say that some reports provide more information about the writer than the topic. :D

WOW!! A simple question has created 2 pages of reply!!

I notice a debate on HANS, Again for me it is simple, what price would you put on your safety? Another expense for the winter, but its for safety so worth it IMO.

Tristan, with your HANS what kind of belts are you using? 3" or 2" I have been looking at some Sabelts, they do 2 versions, 3" which can also be used with out HANS and a dedicated 2" HANS only belts...

I use a normal 3" Willans belt. As there is a chance other people will drive the car (e.g. my brother or father) who don't have HANS helmets (and sure as hell aren't borrowing mine!) so I can't use a HANS specific harness. Not that I've had any problems with the belts slipping off ever.

It makes sence to buy the 3" belts that can be used with or without. What make is your HANS device? I am looking at buying one in the next few weeks, but there are a few different types, Scroth, Stand 21, some versions on Ebay etc...

The incline needed is 30 degrees right?

I've got a Schroth one, which has the ribbed grips on the shoulders (for Slip Stop belts). These actively 'grip' the harness even without SlipStop on your belts.

Stand21 ones have little wings to keep 2" belts on, but they aren't quite as good on 3" belts.

Be careful of Ebay - you never know how used it'll be (unless you find a trustworthy Ebay Retailer).

Yup 30° for most single seaters. Choose your width carefully too - I can't remember what size mine is, but it's a bit narrow to get round my neck easily. I should have gone for a larger size, but it's too late for that now. I'll cope.
