How best to tie down a single seater??

Hi all,

I know this may sound like the most simplest (and daftest) of questions, but its one I dont really want to take a chance with seeing as im towing for a long distance!

How does anyone else tie down their car, are there any do's or dont's, has anyone any handy tips?

So far my trial consisted of running my ratchet straps through the wheel (spokes) around the underside of the upright and down to the trailer ties points as near to vertically as possible, it seemed to do the trick and stop the car from moving around or rolling back/forth. Some have suggested other methods and now im confused!

Any tips?

A lot depends on where the tie down points on the trailer are and the ropes / ratchet straps you have. Through the wheel spokes is OK. Over or around the tyre is ok. Just use common sense really. However, wishbones and steering rods are a no-no!

Getting the trailer loaded so that the weight is in the right place is harder. Generally we found loading the car back first so the racing car travelled backwards worked best. This will require a bit of trial and error until you get it right.

over top of the tyre is best i think legally you need a side loop too that goes in front of the wheel, so i was told!

you should have 50kg weight on the hook with a front tyres rack my car goes on forward but over the centre of the trailer,
