Hi all,

Can anyone post a pic of their harness fixing method for the lap/crotch belts?

I have an FVJ with four fixing points and a TRS 6-point harness. Having looked at it, to bolt in the four fixing points of the lap and crotch belts things start to get very tight!! I wondered if there was a better way of fixing it, or maybe I'm just fixing it completely wrong!!

Thanks very muchly

I used to have an FVJ. The 16 valves are very quick. The belts are easy. You bolt one crotch and one lap belt to each side leaving the crotch belts long enough to run around your thighs back to the buckle and around the shoulder strap, then the lap belt correct for your waist. Position the fixings at the bolt so one runs forward and one upwards. Adjust to body size
Just look in any car. FVJs are quite roomy-as Dermot would say 'suitable for the larger frame' so you have plenty of space.
Best of luck.

Thanks for the info.

I think that due to the thickness of the 4 buckles combined with the ECU on the right hand side, this is what made me question it as it didn't seem right. So am I correct in saying the four buckles are bolted tight together albeit at the different angles? This will prevent any adjustment in the straps as it will trap them.

Matt.

That's how the harnesses work - to set the length you have to undo the retaining bolt, open the two brackety bits and slide the webbing through. Tightening the bolt stops the belts from adjusting once you're in the car. Bit of trail and error to get it spot on most of the time, but it can be done.

Once you've got a seat in the car (which defines the length of all your straps as it defines where your body is in the car) you'll find the brackets aren't an issue.

Read K 2.1.6. It says five or six mounting points not four. Did we not have an issue with scrutineering FVJs and FVLs a few years ago because of this?

I seem to remember Dermot posting something regarding this on one of my previous questions. With an answer for the keen scrutineer being, "do you really want me to alter a carefully designed chassis"?
