I didn't make this, but thought it might be something nice to discuss. The simulation is actually rubbish, but it shows the layout. The new bit in the middle is rather long, but might be fun to drive and race on. Coram and Russell look wonderfully difficult. Less overtaking (probably) and more crashes, but far more satisfying if you get it right. And because 95% of the back straight remains, it's likely the gearing will be about the same in terms of top.

Looks quite good, but coram and russell should be interesting not to take too much speed through the towards the end of coram to stay right for russell. When does the track open for testing?

Looking at the circuit map, I don't think it will be too difficult to stay right for Russell, although Coram may become a double apex corner to do so quickly. But who knows until we drive it.
Not sure when it opens for testing. Unlikely to be much before the first meeting, so I think I'll have to test elsewhere this year, given that our only test day of the year is usually two weeks before the first meeting. I'll probably download the Snetterton track for rFactor just to learn the rhythm of the track and which way each corner goes.

It may be the 20th we race.
Simon issued a revised calendar early this week. It will be 19th or 20th that we race, but he doesn't know yet.

I was at Snetterton today to see Martin Brundle and Jonathan Palmer inspect work. Pretty much all the new extension has some tarmac laid, some parts are getting the second layer and the whole circuit will get resurfaced and they think that will happen towards the end of next week.
They are laying approx 100m of armco a day.
A lot of the curves have a bit of camber to them so it will be quite a challenge. A bit of gradient as well, not much but you'll notice it.
A long time to go and it will take time for the grass to grow, but I think its an improvement. Corum and the new Russell will be a challenge as well.

Looks really good.. but that last corner could be fun, get it wrong and your burried into the gravel.. surprised there is no tarmac run off.

Tarmac runoff areas are for girls - F1 drivers and the like that cry if they make a mistake.

I'm no girlie but I quite like tarmac run off.... I've tried the wall run off and it hurts.
Anyone know if we are Saturday or Sunday?
I don't think I can make the Sunday, the life of an Altar Boy can be very restrictive.
