Re: Have a great weekend at brands!
Many thanks to lots of people at Brands! The Mono membership make even a crap meeting enjoyable (although the attitude of the new 'professional' teams wasn't very nice - probably because they were soundly beaten by some amateurs in old cars).
Thanks to:
1. Mark Schofield for honouring his garage-share fee, even though I made it clear he didn't have to
2. Nick Harrison and Jeremy Timms for a) being bloody good rivals on the track b) thoroughly decent people off the track and c) finding spare coils and bits and bobs to try and get me running.
3. Simon Davey for keeping us ship shape and Bristol fashion once again - I think the meeting went quite smoothly for those that didn't crash into something or have something fail on them.
4. Yunus/Samier for the most amusing thing I think I'll see all year, courageously throwing himself under the wheel of his own car to stop it rolling backwards onto the track when he forgot to put it in gear. So close to being a truly terrible disaster with many people seriously hurt, but as that didn't happen it can simply be funny. I haven't laughed so much on the drive home for ages.
5. The incidentals that pushed, shoved, towed and helped when things weren't going to plan
6. Lenny Coleman for not being cross when our wreck of a car was in his way when the race was called
7. All my 'crew' (Dad, Andrew, Emma and Laurence) for being patient and supportive in equal measures with me.
8. Both grids for giving me two good races to watch...
Sure, it would have been nice to race wheel to wheel with Jeremy for the Mono2000 win rather than stuck in the paddock cursing at coils, starter motors, wiring looms, but at least it wasn't all bad because of the people above.
See you all at Thruxton!

I just wanted to say a big thanks to all who helped Marc Fortune get back out for the race. Especially Team Avit!!! who manufactured some ingeniuos bits for his gear cable.
A great weekends racing for Team OFARC; just a shame Marc could not finish the race and complete a 1-2 for us.
Many thanks.
Cheers Dax

Our pleasure ofrac!
Glad it helped! shame our development made it to fast for your driver to handle!
as for the reason Tony Davis was disqualified i heard he was in trouble as he was using sheep for ballast but thats just paddock chatter!
The real reason was because he turned around on the track and did three laps the wrong way chasing what he thought was his bank of wales £14 note that he lost at anglesey last year!

Quite.....!!!!!
I was the next one through there and my speed would have been closer to 120mph.
It's a miracle no-one was hurt.

Guilty Pleasure!
Hello, my first race with Mono was Brands in the 2000 Classic class, I've tried to button my lip about this but I've got speak (or is that type)
This had the potential to be a catastrophically monumental accident with serious if not fatal results and as such lesson should and I dare say have been learnt. I watched it happen from paddock with my dad (another racer who happens to own the ex-Geoff Jones Speads) and remember feeling physically sick as I watched what was unfolding, so believe me I understand the seriousness of this, BUT even after all those emotions I have to be honest and say I'm still laughing about it now, its the kind of thing you know you shouldn't laugh at but some wicked part of you can't help it, it was certainly an unforgettable welcome to the strange (should be sometimes strange
) but enjoyable world of Monoposto.
Anyway, look forward to seeing you all at Thruxton and Snet.
All the best Chris Scott
