Mallory Park

Post by Dave »

Tony Cotton's report on last weekends races at mallory Park contained the sentence, "the homme du jour of the 1600 class" in reference to myself and my battle with Simon Davey.
That sounds good. I'll repeat it. My battle with Simon Davey. Yes I know he was in a standard 92 Swift without the Mono cam. Yes, I know he's not got the car set up yet. I appreciate the times were well off the lap record. But I still passed Simon Davey several times during the race. There's not that many people can say that.
I digress. Back to the homme du.
Back in the dark ages when I attended school I selected flemish clog dancing in preference to French language class as I thought, perhaps incorrectly, that the former might be of more use. Indeed I did get offered a gig at the annual Barnsley Pigeon Fanciers dinner and dance. But that's another story.
The thing is, I don't know what a homme du jour is. It sounds like an insult and probably is but I don't want to send the boys round to give him, Tony, a slapping until I know for sure.
So if there is an educated french speaker out there, perhaps they can advise me.

Literally "man of the day" I think, and it's probably meant to be "driver of the day" using comedy and other linguistic knowledge far far above my reach.

Either way, it's a compliment, so call the boys off!

Its all different now in Bottesford. The Flemish Clog Dancing module was dropped several semesters ago following advice from the HSE in conjunction with the Department of Children,School,Families & Domestic Pets. The primary School has been twinned with Yuhan School, Dalian, Lialong, China.... so local Bottesford youth now celebrate Mr Parkinsons achievements in Monoposto by commenting 在襤褸的Reynard的想睡的老git在西蒙Davey。.how前面做那個工作然後好朋友? Avit使那輛汽車非法,无疑義對此!

No no no.....not my view at all (M'Lud)....i merely report the word on the street in downtown Bottesford

But now news of sponsorship for some of his rivals means MrP may meet a more severe challenge at the next meeting

You know, I don't think I've ever seen a forum thread go into such a comprehensive death spiral before...

...and many congratulations to Mallory race winners David Cox and Barry Smith for a brace of excellent races.
