Engine Inspection

Being one of the three cars who have had engines sealed in Mono 2000 , prior to an inspection, and not being very mechanically minded to say the least

could somebody kindly advise how an engine can be inspected without being completely taken apart. Obviously with access , components can be measured in dimension , but how can internal lightweight components ( F3 ) or the legality of other materials be determined ?

The engine will have to be stripped whilst the scruitineer watches, during which they will record and measure things.

Fair enough , got that , but how would a lightweight F3 component be identified from a std component if they are identical in appearance ?

They're usually lighter because they're either made of a different material, or a different construction technique, or are optimised for weight saving - wall thicknesses, different dimensions. The latter is usually fairly easy to spot as they look quite different to standard production items.
