Just a observation really :- Standing on pit wall watching the cars go past (wishing I was out there) 80% of rain lights are pretty much a waste of time,

I know visibility is extremely poor and other things factor into the equation, but that being said - and has been said before -

don't we need better rain lights? - for the sake of a 80-90£ bill, opposed to serious injury and a 2-3k bill

I bought a flashing Cartek job - doesn't Dax have something to do with them? 30 /40 people x 1 order = large discount worth a shot ?

The Cartek rain light is the best one on the market

For me driving in Q1 on Saturday I could not believe the poor quality of the lights out there. There are such huge differences in car speeds, braking areas I cannot understand why people will not put a light on the back of their treasured car and more importantly their own safety. Some cars did not even have them on. We need to as a club specify what must be used and I think they should also be flashing, you can see which direction the car is moving by having them flash. They must be FiA approved. It will save lives and peoples cars. Lets react from Saturdays incidents and put something in place now rather than wait for someone to get seriously injured at best.

I even have a box of Cartek goodies with me at all times.

total agree i realised years ago the bigger the better, but if they on not switched on its pointless, cars without a rain light switched on should be black flagged immediately

If for whatever reason the Cartek rain light isn't suitable, then the M-Electronics flashing rain light is also very bright. This is one of the mandated rainlights in F3 Cup, and is more suited for slim carbon housings on the more recent Dallara F3 cars.

may satisfy the letter of the MSA regs, but isn't very visible when you need it to be.

I think M-Electronics do a half size one - slightly fewer LEDs, but still very bright and flashing. I may be wrong though, so check with them.

I had no end of complaints about my m-electronics rainlight, as they are quite small and mounted in the black shroud, so from certain angles cannot be seen (or so I was told). I will be looking at fitting a large square cartek one in the near future.

Is there a possibility for a group deal purchase for mono competitors?

The latest M-electronic rain lights have conical diffusers on the back, and can be seen quite well even at the angle in this pic (see link below) and significantly brighter when actually on the same piece of tarmac.

My mistake, I was referring to the little round ones in your image thinking they were the m-electronics type! Those m-electronics ones do look quite effective on your last image, are they a similar price to the cartek ones?

The F3 sized one was £ 145 + VAT last time we bought one.
