Bahrain

Post by stevengriffin »

I won't be watching...
A country run by barbarians who lock up doctors for treating protestors.
I hope Kimi wins though and cracks open a beer. It's time someone in our sport stands up to these people who think it is still the Middle Ages.

I confess to having listened to 5 Live and got what I deserved when Vettel won. I should have protested and not listened.

If you want to have a mixture of outrage, shock, disbelief and black humour, download the 5Live Chequered Flag GP Preview where they interview one of the organisers. When asked about a poll where 23% of his country said they were opposed to the GP, he replied that Bahrein was a democracy so they must do what the 77% wanted. I was away from school when they covered that sort of democracy. The rest of the interview was in the same style.

I was feeling very self righteous not watching but I did turn on my BBC news web site to see who had won. Pity about Schumacher minor winning again...
It does say something that so many teams are beholden to these guys with beards who no doubt seems very affable on a personal basis having been educated at Ivy League Universities in the USA or our Oxbridge versions. It must take a "deficit of understanding" to not realise that these people are feudal monarchs who rule with a rod of iron over a rather reluctant populace.
We sorted out our absolute monarchs some time ago and replaced them with parliamentary democracy.
Bring back the good old days when the fag-makers ran motorsport-it always amused me to see Dr Jonathan Palmer with a Marlboro sticker on his helmet.

Yes, that isn't the problem. It's the line about "Bahrain is a democracy". If a US based human rights organisation isn't an irony overload, have a look at

http://www.freedomhouse.org/article/ref ... es-bahrain

Although the picture they use to illustrate it shows a lamentable lack of understanding of motor racing.

Blimey, this is getting a bit heavy for a jolly little racing forum.

Yep I think we should go back to whinging about the size of the air restrictor on Formula Renaults. Mind you having just put on a Zetec legal restrictor on my car I'm feeling sorry for it. Such a little hole to breath through it will only rev to 7,200 now poor thing. Anyway at least I have a new excuse to go slowly.
Car in truck for Donnington let's hope the weather is better than last year.
