Im a little confused (not hard)! The mono 1600 regs suggest that a – 150 mm x 150 mm blue square is required next to the race number? I've noticed other classes with triangles, diamonds etc but not seen a 1600 with one of those blue squares yet, or perhaps ive just not looked before so havent noticed it?

Also, what is the requlation on race numbers, i.e is there a specification for minimum size, number colour, background etc? As a novice im aware I require the yellow/black cross decal on the rear of the car, is it required on other locations?

The club will provide the blue stickers when you need them - usually sent out with your membership card, year book etc. but yes, the 1600s do have a blue square on them, although not always that close to the race number.

There are regulations on number heights, backgrounds etc. Most of the time if you are sensible, have decently large numbers that are easy to read (e.g. black with a white border) you'll be okay, but occasionally a scrutineer will ask you to have 'by the book' numbers which are boring looking, and require an enormous white background... We've been lucky so far, but others with equally legible numbers have been asked to change. I can't remember what the regs are, but they're in the Blue Book if you have one.

A single novice cross to be shown at the back. It's purpose is so that following cars are aware you are new and might not do things as confidently as those with experience (although you might be better than those with experience in such matters!). So make sure it's visible from behind from a single seater seating height. Often cars have it on the engine cover, only to find that the rest of the bodywork/wings obscure it from view for following cars. My novice cross was on a hinged and sprung flap right at the back so that we could use the jacking point AND have a visible cross. But, of course, at speed it tended to rise up and not be that visible. By the time we realised, it was time to take it off and join the club of ex-novices.
