But the average age is actually not to high. I admit the average is reduced substantially when myself and Henry's ages are added.
With regard to Tony leaving the 1600s. He actually applied for, and got, a leave of absence. When he's had his fling, and spent all his money, he will be welcomed back to the premier class with open arms. Back to the cakes.
I hope Sara realises that the Club Trophy that she and the other fellow have won is a subjective award. That means that's its only awarded subject to the supply of cakes being continued.
Back to the site. I repeat it looks good but it is a committment.

I hope this happens. I am certainly one that looks at the club/ national bit of Autosport first, however, it will be a lot of work. Is it worth talking to the people behind 10-Tenths to see if you can get some sort of link up with them - lots of people seem to post race reports or photos on the forum nd you might then be able to access those items. 10-Tenths (and Pistonheads) are also a great source of news snippets.

I am most impressed by the title page of 'Racing Exposure' and would like to think that there is room for a successful electronic magazine on the Web.

However, like Tony I have reservations. Tony describes club competitors a selfish, I would like to be a bit more generous, and attribute their lack of interest to the 'soap opera syndrome'. Soap operas such as: An everyday story of village idiots, Brookside, Coronation Street, East Enders, and F1 are characterised by a limited number of characters behaving unreasonably; club racing has far too many individuals involved, and I like to think that the majority are reasonable people.

Skip Barber's book on racing states that a club driver is fortunate if anybody beyond his or her immediate family shows any interest in their racing, an observation that is reasonably accurate. Thus, I believe that interest in race reports decreases in the following way: competitor's own race > competitor's class > competitor's race > MRC's other race > races including past members of the MRC > races with single seaters > races with sports cars > races with tin tops.

As interest seems to decline at rate that seems to be the reverse of an exponential growth curve, by the time we get to the Lydden Hill Skoda Felecia supercharged class report interest is sub zero, unless there is a photograph of a car 15' in the air upside down. And even then I have my doubts, past champion Amanda Whitaker had an interesting 2009 season including a spectacular exit from the Mallory Park Round. As far as I know this is the first mention of this on the Monoposto site, and as a past champion she appears half way through my interest list.

I know that we complain about the coverage in Autosprout and Motoring News, but for general consumption, I suspect that they have the balance correct.

Obvious sources of copy are publicity releases by drivers and teams, and race reports from the clubs. The former tend only to be of interest to those who know the driver or team.

The contents of Startline's race reports hopefully contain enough information to entertain readers in the first four catagories of the interest series. Simon wrote the reports for TRC, they were aimed at a different audience. Any club racing magazine has the problem that its race reports need to be pitched somewhere between the club's magazine report and the reports in the weekly publications, obtaining such reports consistently would be a major problem.

Sorry to be co negative, but there must be reasons why all club racing magazines have been unsuccessful up to now, there is certainly room for a publication that would inform and collate services available to the club competitor.

i am sure that if this done well it could be a success, I for one(i might be the only one) have follow all forms of motorsport from when i was at school.I might be called an anorak but i tend to know a bit about most of the championships and who won what, including rallying, autotest, Bike racing even stockcars etc.Motorsport is all i do that as probably why i am still trying to compete
There appears to any number of magazine that have catered for minority interests that have been going for years ie crosstitch monthly lots of specailist music mags,I assume they at least cover there costs.
So i would have thought there is a market for at the least an e-magazine, if done properly and marketed, which Andrews proposed mag looks very good,i hope if he goes ahead that he has the connections to make a success of it.
He certainly has the ability to set upthe web side of it, How it is marketed to make it viable is matbe a different area.

Like Jim, I think I can make a reasonable stab at being an anorak and enjoy following club racing. I think the key is not to try to do race reports but to try to have a selection of news items and features.

Also pending interest from BMW Racing Drivers Club, Borough 19 Motor Club, Tunbridge Wells Motor Club. HSCC were complimentary but felt that head office couldn't contribute, but series representatives may want to. No reply from CSCC yet.

Also one enquiry regarding sponsorship and advertising.

MR2 Racing have shown an interest, as have BESCR and SPEED endurance racing, although none have so far submitted anything.
