I'm just wondered if any one (mono 1000) had accurately calibrated speed sensors possibley data loggin, could tell me what kind of speed they were getting up to on saturday? - Down the start/finish straight, through the first corner copse and the staight before maggotts? (I know it is'nt really that relevant, and the weather was not ideal)
Spectating it is difficult to get a perception of speed, yes I'm aware lap times are a measure for judging performance, but I just want to know for the sake of knowing.

Re: silverstone speed?
Hi Karl,
We don’t carry that sort of data on our car (Kat 23) but I know Darren’s (32) the man to work it out!?
Donnington gave split times and speed traps which were quite interesting although not a completely accurate picture it does give you some idea of potential speed over a segment including corners.
Incidentally, interesting to see that the split times of the winning Jedi at Donnington this weekend (Superleague) only matched the two front running mono cars! although the mono cars where racing in mixed classes?

PS
I know it was the gp circuit so ignore the 3rd sector?

Re: silverstone speed?
Marky mark,
I have to be a bit careful what I say, not to upset any one.
I believe the winniner at Donnington was the factory car driver, He is suposed to be quick, he openly admits thier are some fast drivers in the championship these days. Since I have been watching the form he has not faired to well (for one reason or another) although in the past he has had some good results.
I do not know who attended Donnington as I havent enquired yet, It was a non championship round and did not have a strong grid, I can know who the fastests drivers are usually and would expect thier times normally to perhaps be faster.(although with a select group attending, I would expect these would be the quickest drivers) The championship race last time at Donnington had totally different results - but not really a good measure as the conditions were so bad when they had the last championship round at Donnington, I think it really could have been stopped, so perhaps not an accurate measure- I havent really looked at comparing times etc.. Will examin more closely as I get nearer to race ready. As with testing I want to know how rubbish I really am.
( I suspect if you are with kat, You must know this from racing in the Jedi championship) I also understand and maybe wrong, recently some of the mono cars have had further engine tuning which will obviously improve lap times?
I was only enquiring about speeds, because form a spectator point of view it is really difficult to understand how fast these cars are traveling considering how high performance that they are, Obviously with fancy cameras at specific locations f1 cars look amazing. I have been told some stats of the jedi, I know they are usually exagerated. I think it's more of a talking point for people who are not over interested but are keen to show support.
My car has a stack dash with speed sensor, and automatically records data - Appears to be working- Yes I know it's a bit pointless but it came with the old car, so I will be able to answer my own qusetions when I get out there.

Karl
Point taken, I don’t want to upset anyone either, after all we could go back to Jedi, my point was to confirm what you said about interrupting the flow, its much easier to get a good lap time in a single make formula where all cars are of a similar speed.
I wouldn’t read to much into performance claims, yes these cars are very quick and hopefully you will be very pleasantly supprised, pound for pound they are value for money,
Yes tuning can make a difference but most of the performance will come from the driver and set up of car, ie Nigel Ruben was unbeatable in his 03 Yamaha while racing against 05 Suzuki’s. I think continuity and seat time are the key to speed.
From your understanding already you wont be rubbish, testing is the key, once you are familiar with the car you will be up to speed!
Hope to see you out there soon!!

Re: silverstone speed?
Hi Karl,
Just a guess, but i would imagine most of the 1000s in the race on Saturday would be hitting 130mph plus at both the end of the start finish straight and going into Maggots. Clearly the faster boys (and Kat!) would be going 10-20-30mph quicker than that. What do I achieve.....that would be telling.
No idea what the Jedi guys get to. I would guess a similar figure to that of Chris and Kat.
Regards
Darren

Re: silverstone speed?
Not trying to make any comparisions to the Jedi championship cars,
(I think somewhere way back I got caught up in the discussion about running different cars in the same race and saftey issues with the strength of carbon tub cars, and I might have mentioned when some one compared the speed of classes involving the jedi cars -
I said they can infact go quicker as not mentioning names (you probably can recall specific races better than I know) when some of the stock engine jedi cars entered mono certain drivers were way ahead and did not find mono a particular challenge, on that basis the comparsion between different types of cars may not be that accurate, - but on the same token the speed difference argument some one mentioned was based on diffent cars all from mono so obviously the comparision was relevant)
Since attending silverstone I did post that my statements/opinions were possible incorrect or inaccurate in the way that I mentioned my point which refurred to speed differences and saftey. As I did not see the speed differences as a danger at silverstone.
No offense was ment so I do not want to get involved in tit for tat exchanges.
I enjoyed mono and can see the upsides and will most likey do some at least one race next season and will most probably still race in the jedi championship.
clearly pro's and cons to each championship - I was only interested in speed from a spectators point of view, - No doubt when some people that I know will come to watch, I know they will think the car looks slow as I did, despite the fact they actually are quite fast.
I just want to enjoy my self. Hope fully nxt season might involve more sunshine and bbq's xxx
