Re: Dubai

Spa next meeting for me then Oulton. Thanks for the info. I'll see what happens re working there. There is more to life than money. I may have to get Ewen to show me how to drive a Radical SR3, they look wicked and they have a series for them in Dubai. Mind you if any of my patients die they will p...

And of course the designer of the Anson (and later numerous, similarly attractive but less successful F1 designs...) Gary

Re: If you could own any F1 car, what would it be?

Blimey. Lotus 79. Jordan 191. Williams FW14B. McLaren MP4/4. Lotus 49. Any late-turbo-era front runner on qualifying tyres and 1500hp. Any of them please. In original liveries too please. I like your list Tristan, would add a couple more - Lotus 72, McLaren M23 and going back earlier, Maserati 250F...

Re: 2000 restricters ?

Hello chaps, It is very rare that I look at the forum, bored in a hotel room, but just read this thread and although Tristan the beggar, always beats me, he is right with his comments about various aspects of mono apart from a couple of small things, I am not quicker than him, but I am working on i...

Re: 2000 restricters ?

Quote deleted by Simon Davey Phil - please do come out with the F304 with a road engine. And when you are building it, put it on injection instead of twin Webers or Dell'ortos. The price won't be much different when starting from scratch. I think new Webers are a couple of hundred quid cheaper but ...

Re: 2000 restricters ?

First of all a deristriced Renault with VVT is not going to push out anything over 200bhp. So the fear of an unrestricted Renault F4R being comparable in terms of power to the Honda K20 engine is not really valid. Either way people are over reacting just because the Renault has a VVT system. It is n...

Re: 2000 restricters ?

Mono 2000 is a mix of chassis and engine regs - people don't have to run a Dallara but it is generally the best chassis and almost certainly a better chassis than the Formula Renault. I think a more valid argument for the Formula Renault is whether the chassis should be allowed to be run with a Mono...

Re: 2000 restricters ?

For what it is worth, I have spoken to two different engine builders about the benefits of throttle bodies. One told me he would rather stay with carbs if the size is free ie use 45 or 48s with engine management rather than go to small throttle bodies of 40mm. The other said yes, 40mm throttle bodie...

Good idea!

How many other members drove the Birmingham circuit?
I went there when they had the "round the streets" demonstration run the year before the first Superprix - we went round most of it at walking pace....

Re: anyone recall John Janet Elmes racing March 762 in mono

Yes, John & Linda raced in the early 80s - I started in Mono in 1981 and they were running their car in the mid 80s when we lived fairly close to them - the lived at Kiln Green, between Reading and Maidenhead...

Re: Hans Device

4. At FIA events they are now getting snotty about the fitting of the Hans post to the helmets and even the age of the straps. They need in-date FIA stickers. Why??? 5. Don't get too hung up about the angle, they come in various angles for different car types. I take the view that even the wrong an...

I fully agree - I have been using one for 5 seasons, they are now mandatory in the Nurbrugring series where I also race, and I would not sit in a race car without one!
Yes, they are expensive but still cost less than one race weekend...
