Placement of Go Pro Cameras

Post by omsracer »

Is there a restriction on where you can mount your Go Pro (other cameras are available) camera?. I.e. does it have to be behind you or can you mount it, for instance along side your mirror.

Thanks in anticipation.

No particular restriction, except not on your helmet.

Depends what you want if for, you get most as a driver aid if you can see your steering action, but you can get interesting shots by mounting elsewhere.

I find they work best on the top of the roll bar, you can get a good forward view of the front of car, track, etc. whilst as Andrew said getting steering inputs as a driver aid. There is a roll bar mount you can buy for a go pro on amazon but the majority of cameras use the same mountings and so you can get away with getting a 30 quid camera, which generally are just as good as go pros!

If you do mount it on anywhere else use those 3M sticky mounts otherwise it will fall off, but I found them hard to remove without damaging paintwork.
