Question for the cogniscenti. Being old, overweight and with mild occasional claustrophobia I have just found my newly acquired device is massively more pleasant to wear without the padding - this might not be the case when the car is jogging about.
The HANS leaflet says that removing the padding (velcro'd) does not affect the performance. Has anybody done so, and are scrutineers prepared for this?

I'd give them my total approval for being mandatory. I would baulk at lifeing (lifing? Life-ing? Lifin'?) them as a unit.
