Just seen on the BBC website that Alex Zanardi won his hand-bike time trial at the Olympics for the Disabled. (Paralympics is not a word in my view but I am a pedant).
I am awestruck at his determination and strength at the age of 45.
Like an idiot I ran my own foot over last weekend whilst pushing my car around the paddock. Just that minor injury hurt like crazy, it is difficult to imagine how much pain is involved in having your legs ripped off at the thighs.
He is an inspiration to all as he is now and he was the best overtaker in CART for years in his time.
His book is a good read and if you youtube 'Alex Zanardi overtakes' you will be wowed.

Re: Alex Zanardi
Amazing man. How ANYONE can think a footballer or a music performer is 1% of the role model that he is. He even makes the most impressive able bodied Olympian look a bit ordinary.
