As mentioned in the November minutes, the forum gets approx 60 fake registrations per day which require quite a lot of time dealing with them.
Tony and I are in the process of taking steps to counter act these.
Firstly the site software has been upgraded to the latest one. This has new functions built in, replacing the easily bypassed CAPTCHA system with a random question. Most registrations are automated systems which get flummoxed by anything out of the ordinary.
We will monitor the registrations for a period and decide what to do, if anything further needs doing.
The old red theme is incompatible with the new version, so I have restored the default until I can find an updated version.

Re: Forum and Spam
New version of the old theme found, but it defaults to blue rather than red. You can change colours yourself by looking above, and just to the left of the clock display there is a little triangle. Click that and a colour picker pops up.
I have also installed Tapatalk for mobile access. Tapatalk is free for Blackberry and Nokia mobiles, but a paid-for App for iphones and Android. However, I regularly check the forums using my Android phone without any plug-ins, and I know Tristan can from his iphone.
BTW, I also switched on the monoposto RSS (really simple syndication) feed. It means I can subscribe to the forum from my email software and a note pops up when a new reply or topic is started.

Re: Forum and Spam
PENDING: sending emails via forum - hasn't worked for ages, currently de-activated whilst researching how to fix it.
Edit: partially FIXED (I think) and re-activated.
- notification of new private message by email still isn't working
