Re: Specials in Mono

..............agree with that so long as they all have to run E93A engines. Be generous though, any state of tune. Just keep in mind weight limits were introduced for safety reasons not competitive ones. viz Chapman and building in lightness etc. 70 kgs reduction in the M2000 class type car is a lo...

Re: Specials in Mono

As my last thread seems to have come happily to an amicable conclusion (albeit denying that pro teams are contrary to the true spirit of Mono and also hovering around the fact that everyone should have an allocated paddock space) how about this for a point of discussion? Special building was the fo...

F3 Cup will not be having garages either. Usually allocated at MSVR meetings to GT Cup.

Also they manage it at every hillclimb and sprint. You must go to some posh places! (Other than SW) I don't remember myself or anyone I've ever been involved with not having an allocated spot at any speed event, however humble the event, apart from the notorious "Turf Wars" of Longleat of course, b...

Re: "Pro" Teams in Mono

Define "pro"! Is a team with a truck pro? Even if it's a worn out old truck converted/maintained/improved by an amateur in the home driveway? Is a team with two cars pro? Even if they are both prepared in the home workshop? Does the fact one might be a paid job count as being pro? Some "pro" teams ...

Re: Engine pre-heaters

Experience would suggest to me that far more damage is done in the oil getting too hot during a race rather than having it too cold at the start. So why exacerbate the problem? Forty years ago in wet sump cars I have let two inches into the sump to increase the capacity for this reason and even in M...

I was more interested in the National circuit info from 08. Last year was a wet race.

If anyone saw Nigel Mansell being interviewed at Monza when he was FIA Steward he made exactly the same point as Jim. When asked why driving standards had deteriorated in F1 he replied because the cars are so much safer now and "when I was doing it you knew a big accident was going to hurt so you di...
