Re: Rain Lights

Sorry to be a bit rude Samier, but if you read Dermot's post in this thread you'd quickly see his is a Lifeline one. Then, if you look at List 19 on the page that Russ posted you'd see the Lifeline light is MSA approved. And it only takes a few seconds to find it on the Lifeline website . I'm not av...

Re: GPR

Hmmm, that would explain why the 09 catalogue is even closer in style to the DT catalogue. The downside is that a certain amount of major competition will have been lost in the market that could push the prices up. As long as people stay aware of the smaller companies (Merlin, Raceparts, Think etc) ...

Re: Rain Lights

Sure, if you just want to pass scrutineering, and are happy to risk other's not being able to see you (whicy could result in nastiness of various forms), then by all means buy one of those. Alternatively fit a candle, which is going to be just as bright. Or, for a few quid extra (use the fact we've ...

Re: Rain Lights

Despite being 'MSA Approved', that rain light is a complete waste of time. My dashboard lights (single LEDs) are brighter. Plus it's got a horrible mounting arrangement, with a silly double angle that requires a more complicated bracket that needs be. Avoid if you value safety in the slightest. I bo...

Re: 2009 Regulations (Not MSA approved yet)

I don't remember the safety car stuff in previous regs. Is that new for this year? Could be a great way of avoiding too many show stopping red flags, even if the SC time counts as race time. Better than being told to go home after 0.5 racing laps and no chance of a restart. Having scanned it I don't...

Hasn't Derek always been a non-competitive member? :D

Loving the quiz Lee. A good mix of easy, hard and downright baffling questions. Note made about the two separate questions.

Re: Pressure sensor and 1/8 NTP thread

Make a custom hose - only takes a few minutes and a few quid. Or, get an adaptor (or get one made) to match the dissimilar threads...

How neat, light, expensive, complicated and time consuming do you want the solution to be?

Re: Who can use out of date seat belts?

I've got a Schroth one, which has the ribbed grips on the shoulders (for Slip Stop belts). These actively 'grip' the harness even without SlipStop on your belts. Stand21 ones have little wings to keep 2" belts on, but they aren't quite as good on 3" belts. Be careful of Ebay - you never know how use...

Re: Who can use out of date seat belts?

I use a normal 3" Willans belt. As there is a chance other people will drive the car (e.g. my brother or father) who don't have HANS helmets (and sure as hell aren't borrowing mine!) so I can't use a HANS specific harness. Not that I've had any problems with the belts slipping off ever.

And no Oulton. But we do get Croft and Donington (both of which I've heard good things about but never driven on).

Looking forward to it!

Re: Vauxhall Lotus Dampers and Spring rates

Dermot has been known to be wrong about things like this, or decidedly non-technical, but in this instance he's spot on. Last year we went to the Autosport Show, and what Dermot wrote is not far removed from the truth. We ended up with a set of dampers, from Spax, that cost a lot and didn't fit with...
