Re: Entry fee inflation

I'm not sure how other organising clubs work with their finances. Something like BRSCC, 750MC or BARC who possibly own the individual championships, may allow under subscribed series some leeway if their costs are outweighed by the more popular series. Monoposto takes some of the risks by buying tra...

Re: Entry fee inflation

Comparison costs Mono: Championship Registration £ 135. Race entries £ 350 - £ 410. Tiedeman £ 299. Spa £ 615. F3 Cup costs: CR £ 295. Race entries range from £ 435 to £ 540 (Silverstone GP / Brands GP) with Spa at £ 735. Excluding Spa, race format is either 1Q and 2R at 20' each (60') or 1Q 15', 2R...

Re: Engine Regulations

The weight advantage is also worthy of thought. Ballasting them to iron block weights would require a lot of lead, and that's neither cheap nor easy to safely fit in many single seaters! Ballast the driver. Mono drivers + cake = problem solved. Towards the end of the 1990's car manufacturers looked...

Silverstone format change

There is a format change to Silverstone National which is mentioned on the event page on the main Mono site and the Facebook feed. I thought mentioning it here would also give people advance warning as I know some are guilty of not reading all the final instructions and supplementary regulations. Sa...

Re: to those who use trailers

Our truck is a converted 7.5t lorry. In theory it takes two cars, one on the floor, another on parallel benches at waist height. In practice we find its best to put one car on the upper deck and all the accumulated stuff necessary for running a car underneath - rolling tool cabinets, boxes of spares...

Re: to those who use trailers

Trailers - going forwards is easy. Reversing is harder, but that comes with practice - and its easier with a bigger trailer than a small garden trailer. Certainly here, you've got to be aware of total weights - car + trailer + race car + tools / stuff can exceed the amount permissible that the tow c...

Re: Pirelli v Avons

I think the majority simply have two or three sets of wheels - a set of wets, a primary set of race tyres and possibly an extra set of older tyres for transit or in case they receive a puncture or damage.

There are regs which can be imposed if people abuse tyre allocations.

Re: Pirelli v Avons

The argument against is that its kind of against the historical ethos of Monoposto. Currently many people run different tyres and get good results from each - Avon, Cooper, Pirelli, Michelin, Dunlop, Hoosier, Yokohama are all seen, and there is no reason why people couldn't try Hankook or Kumho F3 t...

Re: Pirelli v Avons

Yes, they are cheaper than Avons, by approx £ 100 if memory serves. F3 Cup moved to Pirelli last season after several seasons of using a spec. Avon tyre and the tyres have proven to be faster and also more durable. Some Mono cars have used the softer Avon compound and the Pirellis are certainly more...
