Re: Cheap onboard Cameras for non professional people!
I once used a HDD camcorder and that was rubbish. I didnt use it again... I did try my mobile phone at Donington, recording would have been good, if I designed a better mount with anti vibration... most of the picture was too wavey. The mount for my Smartycam works just fine, how ever it s bit on th...

Re: Cheap onboard Cameras for non professional people!
I just ordered 2, postage was 12 pounds, the cams were 0.10p as it has a 0.01p starting price. Same one in Maplin is 59.99.

Cheap onboard Cameras for non professional people!
For those who do not like to be professional, I found something that would not go against your principles  Nat Filmore could even have one stuck to his helmet or when mowing the lawn can fit it to the mower! They are cheap as chips.. and seem to have a decent resolution 720x 480 and ...

Re: Mono Budgets - How much do you spend per season?
I agree, I try not to think about it. I have no idea how much I spend probably more than I should but hey who cares? I feel very fortunate to be able to do something that I love. When I was a lad in the 70s a collecting area marshal, sometimes for Mono, I never thought that I would ever get my bum ...

Re: Engine pre-heaters
Here is what I have discovered with 12V heaters. A 12V 200 watt heater takes about 30 mins to warm oil from 10 degrees to 50 degrees. This draws about 8 amps. In practical terms this takes the chill off and allows the oil to reach the engine in a slightly warmer than ambient temperature. The down s...

Re: Engine pre-heaters
Very good article. Martin mentions about cold start, thicker oils being harsh during start up. In our colder climate, surely a 0w or a 5w oil would be better than say a 10w or a 15w oil? Regarding the hot weight, ie 30, 40, 50 something like a 40 should offer adequate protection at 100 degrees? I k...

Re: Mono Budgets - How much do you spend per season?
If you can do the work yourself obvioulsy you save a fair chunk. I am limited some what this year, but got a few setup equipment and other important stuff to buy as well a new logger. See how far 8k gets me. I dont want to think about what I spent last year including the car and a bunch of spares ot...

Mono Budgets - How much do you spend per season?
People talk about budgets in various forms of racing, so why not club racing? I am sure some are spending more than others and can afford trucks and motorhomes while others are limited to a trailer and a pop up marquee.. What are people spending per season? Has anyone bothered to cost up their racin...

Re: Engine pre-heaters
Just a thought, if people are concerned about getting the engine oil heated up, why not use a thinner oil at cold weight, instead of using a 10w or a 15w, perhaps a 5w? That should circulate a lot faster and heat up a lot quicker and reduce wear during the first few minutes. Maybe I am wrong here.. ...
