Re: Pads for Dallara F397 - Advice needed

I always liked Pagid Blue. I'd get a season out of a set of pads in Mono and in F3 Cup, which was a lot more than with Ferodo and even Performance Friction pads (although Performance Friction components were awesome). Pagid gave me the lowest cost/lap in terms of braking, even if the initial cost pe...

Re: Trailer Tests

When I did mine, it was for <3500kg trailers. The "training" and test were done with a hatchback and a garden trailer (arguably more difficult as they are short and respond quickly). The test consisted of attaching the trailer properly. Driving forwards (ensuring you don't clip the inside of the tra...

Re: Dave Dudley

I didn't know him well, but we always said hello to each other, occasionally chatted about oily bits, and he seemed to know who I was despite my fleeting Monoposto 'career'. His achievements and his Anson were known to all, and the Anson was always nicely prepared and very quick. Only the really mod...

Re: Seat belts wanted

Give James Ledamun at TRS a call. He'll sort you out quickly and cheaply, and I really like their belts. 01256 224670.

Re: Live snatching of stranded race cars

My two pennies addition... I've driven the safety car for Terry three times now (not with Monoposto), and when the car is put into use there is a constant flow of communication between Terry and the car advising progress being made with the recovery. I have always tried to drive at a speed suitable ...

Re: New to Mono racing

You'll be absolutely fine with F3 Cup tyres, although you'll need to adjust the suspension rideheight as the dimensions are a little different. But they're good tyres, last a decent amount of time, and (new) are cheaper than Avons too. The initial warm up takes a little longer (a lap or two rather t...

Re: Racing commentary and TSL live times

Yes, that would be great. Especially if you can sync up the two a little bit better than live (timing has less delay than audio stream).

Re: What is the best way to make the ideal seat?

If it never cures then that's 99% likely you got the ratio of resin to hardener wrong. Theoretically it could be a bad or old batch of resin, but I've not come across that before (first time for everything though). It's very easy to miss the lumbar area. I've found you have to put way too much in th...

Re: What is the best way to make the ideal seat?

Of the 61litres, how much had to be trimmed away to make room for seat belts, arms, gear levers etc? Because I usually find one be more efficient with the bag that you actually were - if you have 70 litres to play with you can be less vigilant than if you had 50 litres, but still make the same final...

Re: What is the best way to make the ideal seat?

I've used 2 inch (50mm). You could use narrower for tricky areas around belt slots, but I tend to tear the 50 into 25mm as I need it.

One roll easily does a seat, probably two.

Re: What is the best way to make the ideal seat?

The 50 litre Indi-Seat kit is what is used for the majority of 'current' carbon tubbed cars, usually with fairly large cockpits and removable extraction shells. Depending on how much room there is in the cockpit of an RF03 (and how big you are) 'd imagine you might get away with a 40 litre kit, whic...

Re: Getting an 'Indi Seat' Fitted Professionally?

Chris and Max are pretty darn professional 99% of the time, and in my experience treat a Monoposti just as importantly as Ferrari F1. There is no preferential price or service for either end of the market! Not sure what else to say, but my first thought is don't let it sour you too much as they are ...

Re: Getting an 'Indi Seat' Fitted Professionally?

I have done fittings all over the country for various amateur and professional championships for Indi-Seat. Having said that, I'm not really doing them anymore as my job doesn't really mix with days out doing other work. I was intending to do one for Mr Purcell tomorrow, but found out on Monday that...

F3 Cup Dinner

I have a couple of vacant seats on our table at the F3 Cup Dinner this Saturday, if anyone hasn't booked anything but wanted to go.

Re: Pirelli v Avons

I'm not 100% sure on this, but by my understanding of the ideal gas laws and the partial pressure equations... Using ANY dry gas will result in the same pressure change with temperature. There might be small effects due to different specific heat capacities of different gases, but for most gases we'...
