I weigh about 85kg with kit and we get the Anson within about 5kg of the limit - 565kg. So If I lose a bit more weight we'll be there :-)

I think a Vauxhall Lotus is lighter...

Re: Dave Dudley

Thank-you Simon! The car you're referring to was the Reynard, heavily modified by Dave and his brother John, with "JD" (John Dawe) spannering. At the time there was no minimum weight limit in Mono so Dave chose not to run a starter motor and had a special lengthened gearbox shaft onto which the enor...

Dave Dudley

It is with huge sadness that I share with you the news that my uncle and godfather Dave Dudley died earlier today after a short illness. A stalwart of the club for over 4 decades, Dave raced himself for 35 years and after hanging up his helmet in 2008 continued to run the Anson for me to drive, then...

Re: Fire extinguishers

I have always worked on the basis that the fire-ex has to be "in date" just like belts - that meant being serviced by an approved (by the manufacturer) servicer every two years. The only difference I can read into this is that some manufacturers may want to service more frequently than every 24 mont...

Spa 2017

Hi, Although the club does not have a race at Spa this year, there is a race which Monoposto 2000 drivers (mono F3, Mono 2000, F Renault and Mono Classic) can enter. The Austrian F3 organisation are racing at the same meeting we have joined for the last few years - the Spa Summer Classic organised b...

Re: Engine Regulations

On the original subject here, the subject of engines, I think the engine regs for 2000 are fine for now. Yes, we all know that the world moved on to variable valve timing a long time ago, mainly to meet emissions requirements. However, there is still plentiful supply of cheap engines which suit the ...

Re: Engine Regulations

I don't understand the reason for the FR ban as like most people I tend to agree that was what Mono club was all about. As for the FF 2000 in Classic, that was tried and is the reason there are so few classics now. There is no competition for classics with FF2000 as the last three championships (?)...

Re: Engine Regulations

I also agree that it makes sense for Formula Renault to be in Monoposto but I think there might be another way of doing it. From this year we have split the two existing 2 litre classes into three - we had Mono 2000 and Classic, now we have F3, 2000 and Classic. The end result, so far, is that both ...

Re: Pirelli v Avons

Chris u are on drugs if you really think FFordsters have 1 set of tyres on the van and the mono tyre situation is stopping them moving into mono series!!!! There are people that race saloon cars and not single seaters there are people that race FFord and nothing else. If you are worrying about tyre...

Re: CARTEK Flashing Rain Lights

Hi everyone. As many of you know I have been a keen user of Cartek products including their rain lights. Just to clarify things, Cartek produce 3 different types of rain lights: CK-LR-15 This is a 'standard', red LED, non-flashing rain light which is fully homologated by the FIA and appears on FIA ...

Re: CARTEK Flashing Rain Lights

I have read all of the posts so far but having just searched the three listed solutions it seems to me, on first reading, that only one of them fulfil the rules but having no experience of any of them I would be happy to be corrected before I go and buy - I need two (Anson and Ralt): The Lifeline – ...

David Wall

Very sorry to hear this morning that David Wall has died. David was well known to many Mono members, particularly those of us from the Gloucestershire/Worcestershire area as he was local. For me he typified what the mono club is about - an enthusiast who loved his racing and would help anyone he cou...

Re: HANS devices (aka FHRs) to become mandatory next year

I would not dream of racing without wearing a HANS device. I have 2 of them - the 20 degree and 30 degree versions for single seater and touring car. They have been a requirement at the Nürburgring for almost a decade and it has saved me from probable injury at least twice at the 'Ring. To me it is ...

Re: Seat belts - things you should know!

I think all the good brands are just that - good! I tend to stick with Willans in my cars as they saved me from serious injury in the only big accident I've had in a single-seater and then, in keeping with their view that you should replace belts after an accident (as they are designed to stretch un...

No arguments with any of the circuits on your list but I would add Thruxton to the wish-list....
